A New Chapter Begins

2016 was the final year for the Alberta Wish Ride.  Co-founders Irene White and Roger Matas announced they were stepping down after eight great years of supporting the Children's Wish

Foundation and also retiring the brand and event name.

Their legacy continues, however.  The spirit of the ride will continue at the historic Reesor Ranch in Cypress Hills, the site of the one of the Alberta Wish Rides for the past four years.  The Cypress Hills Wish Ride will continue to support the Children's Wish Foundation and you can contact them This email address is being protected from spambots. Roger and Irene are grateful for all the support they've received over the years from volunteers, riders and donors.  The event made a big difference in the lives of many children and everyone who participated should be very proud.

The 2016 donation takes the event to close to $350,000 in donations to Children's Wish.

The Alberta Wish Ride has always been a legacy to Irene's father Walter who ran rides in B.C. for many years. The Alberta Wish Ride was a spin-off from Walter's events.

Children's Wish Foundation

Established in 1984, The Children’s Wish Foundation of Canada is a national non-profit organization dedicated to fulfilling a favourite wish for children diagnosed with high-risk, life-threatening illnesses.

Since its inception, Children’s Wish has granted more than 18,000 wishes for children and their families and fulfills approximately 1000 wishes annually across Canada -- each being an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of that particular child.
